HURGHADA, Egypt: The hospitality operator Rixos Hotels Egypt has ended the 2026 awards season on the African continent with a sweep of seven honours, secured at the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony held on 28 August 2026 in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The results underline the commercial strength of a portfolio that now spans three of Egypt’s principal leisure markets. The Rixos group operates resorts and hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Alexandria, and each of those destinations featured among the winning entries announced in Zanzibar.

A haul spread across the Egyptian portfolio

For hoteliers watching the region, the notable feature of this year’s tally is its breadth. Rather than concentrating in a single category or a single flagship, the seven titles reach across water park attractions, all-inclusive and adults-only formats, beach and family resorts, heritage stays, and luxury villa accommodation. The recognitions confirmed at the ceremony were:

  • Africa’s Leading Water Park 2026, Aqua Park, Rixos Premium Seagate, Egypt
  • Egypt’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort 2026, Rixos Sharm El Sheikh Adults Only 18+
  • Egypt’s Leading Beach Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas
  • Egypt’s Leading Family Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Seagate
  • Egypt’s Leading Heritage Hotel 2026, Rixos Montaza Alexandria
  • Egypt’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2026, Premium Villa @ Club Prive by Rixos Sharm El Sheikh
  • Egypt’s Leading Resort 2026, Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas

Multiple wins for two properties

Two assets carried a double burden of recognition. Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas in Hurghada took both the leading beach resort and leading resort titles, while Rixos Premium Seagate was named both for its Aqua Park attraction and as the country’s leading family resort. The Alexandria heritage category, awarded to Rixos Montaza Alexandria, extended the run to the group’s third operating market.

Commenting on the outcome, Mr. Erkan Yildirim, Managing Director of Rixos Hotels Egypt, said: “We are extremely proud to receive seven World Travel Awards. This recognition reflects the dedication of our teams and our continued commitment to delivering exceptional and memorable guest experiences. We sincerely thank our guests and partners for their trust and support.”

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are voted for by travel and tourism professionals alongside consumers, and the Africa gala forms part of the programme’s regional cycle ahead of its global finale. A full list of this year’s regional winners is published by the World Travel Awards.

For the operator, the seven-title result offers a marketing platform heading into the coming season, reinforcing Egypt’s standing as a competitive Red Sea and Mediterranean destination for the wider hospitality trade.
