Due to increased demand for structural all-glass Oriel windows, John Knight Glass has developed a new product range to satisfy the domestic market. The new standardised system is designed around a structural cantilevered base system available in both standard and bespoke sizes. Available in almost any size, the new system has reduced manufacturing and installation times, passing on a cost saving to the client.

The structural base makes this system stand out from other products. Designed to be compatible with any size opening and easily adjusted on-site. The base system forms the foundation for the Oriel Window and is easy and quick to both manufacture and install. Previous systems have required a bespoke custom base to be engineered and manufactured on-site with specialist engineers’ calculations and bespoke metalwork. All of this has been considered when manufacturing a unique base system designed to suit a wide range of sizes, which can be manufactured off-site and ready for a simple installation once the openings have been prepared on-site.

The glass is made specifically for this purpose, making it heavier and more robust than the typical glass in standard windows. Externally, the edges are finished with a black painted border, which isn’t visible internally. This gives the window a striking finish externally and protects the glazing compounds around the edge of the glass panels from sunlight.

John Knight Glass has invested in a spider crane specifically for lifting and installing large glass panels, including structural glass projects and Oriel Windows, as part of its commitment to supplying and installing Oriel Windows throughout the UK. The spider crane has improved installation safety and reduced installation time, passing savings on to the client. The spider crane is highly compact and can manoeuvre through tight areas, enabling the team to install these challenging products in more challenging spaces than previously.

Available in a wide range of standard and bespoke sizes, some standard configurations include:

  • 1000mm w x 1500mm h x 450mm deep
  • 1500mm w x1600mm h x 450mm deep
  • 1800mm w x 1800mm h x 450mm deep
  • 2100mm w x 2200mm h x 450mm deep

What Makes the Oriel Window a Great Choice?

A modern oriel window is a contemporary take on the bay window; with structural glass on 3 or 4 sides, it maximises any aperture with a 180-degree view of the garden and maximum light flow, making it a fantastic alternative to a standard window. Additionally, the Oriel window gives maximum visual allure, with a floating projection from the building façade and all-glass construction. Oriel windows are visually striking and often create a talking point with visitors. It is an ideal place to make a large window seat, a perfect resting place for watching the world go by or taking in the latest tabloids. Additionally, a greater feeling of space is created when installing an Oriel window as the physical internal space increases, and the increased natural light makes the space feel even bigger.

This latest offering allows homeowners to transform their living areas by blending cosiness with outdoor aesthetics. Whether you seek to enhance or upgrade windows in a traditional home or add them to a new structure, the Oriel Window is a flexible and chic choice to enhance any home.

The new system from John Knight Glass has been designed for both the new and replacement market, making it suitable for any home or project. It can be installed into any existing openings, such as a replacement window or a new opening in a new structure.
