Moving offices can be an exciting milestone for your business, but it can also be pretty stressful. Trying to move house can bring with it many issues, and the same can certainly be said for moving offices. Here are some of the things you should consider if you know that you have an office move coming up.

Nominate a Co-ordinator

Since you will most likely have to continue your regular tasks around your office move, you need to make sure that everything is as organised as possible. For this reason, it can be a good idea to nominate a co-ordinator for the move. It will be their responsibility to liaise with the moving company and the other members of staff, and ensure that everything is pulled off properly with as little stress as possible.

Organisation is always going to be key, so make sure you pick someone who is always going to be organised and able to pull a task together correctly. This can be a fantastic way to give a junior member of your team a little responsibility and to give them a chance to step up and help out.

Deep Clean

Once the old office is clean and clear of all your office furniture and effects, you need to ensure that you deep clean it. Just as when you leave rented accommodation, you need to make sure that you hand the office back to the building owner in the same way that you found it.

Sometimes, it can be beneficial to engage in the services of professional cleaners to ensure that everything is handled correctly, such as a company like SMC Premier. They will be able to help you remove any trace of your company from your old office, so the next tenants will be able to move in straight away. Move in Quiet Times

Try to avoid moving offices at peak times. It might be difficult to park a removals van near your office building in these hours. What’s more, you might annoy other people in your building if you are repeatedly occupying one of the only lifts with all of your furniture and boxes.

Moving in a quiet time, such as early morning or late at night, is a much better option. You will get to handle the move in a much calmer manner and can get everything set up for the first day of work with little pressure.

An office move can be more difficult to co-ordinate than a house move, as you might not be able to stop work for a significant amount of time to facilitate the move. With a residential move, you always have the option of taking time off work to be able to organise things properly. An office move often requires you to manage things around your regular workload. Good organisation is going to be key here, and it is a chance for you to really pull together as a team. Before you know it, you could be safely in your new offices!
