A well-designed kitchen can fully transform the way you cook and create some fantastic meals. Some people love to cook and while they might not be a professional chef, that doesn’t mean you can’t still be absolutely amazing at it.

When you are designing your kitchen, taking some information from professionals is a great way of building the perfect kitchen that inspires some creativity and provides you with a space that comes with excellent functionality and is well thought out to your needs and desires. Here are some key design elements to consider when creating your perfect chef-inspired kitchen.

High-Performance Appliances

Having an amazing quality appliance is a huge must in every chef’s kitchen, as without it, it can mess up your timings and take some of the fun out of it. This would come in the form of high-quality burners, stoves and other powerful and efficient appliances. You need to use quality burners to ensure that the ventilation hood is also effective to prevent any rust, build up and damage to your new, upgraded kitchen. The ventilation will ensure that smoke, steam and moisture are removed from all the cracks and crevices around your appliances, ensuring they last for years to come.

But the upgrades don’t stop there—having a high-capacity fridge or even just a double-door fridge that accommodates all your ingredients and storage needs. It would also be a bonus if you had a dedicated ice draw like you find with the American fridges.

Another top-quality appliance you can add to the mix is a commercial-grade dishwasher, which can handle heavy-duty cleaning on those big family occasions. This helps revert your pots and pans back to their squeaky-clean state, ready for the next meal.

Ample Counter Space

In every chef’s kitchen, there is always ample counter space and for good reason. Whether you enjoy cooking for large quantities of friends and family, run a little side hustle for pre packed sandwiches and other forms of catering. This large amount of space comes in handy for the most part and it’s a perfect addition to every kitchen.

Here are some design ideas for your new large counter.

  1. An island or peninsula is the perfect central workspace that breaks up the areas and can act as the perfect solution for all of the preparation and plating elements to occur.
  2. Customisable countertops allow you to create personalized touches some common materials chefs tend to use are quartz, granite and stainless steel.

While this ample space also relies on the element, there is plant room within the kitchen space; therefore, these design elements may come with trial and error and a lot of visualisation to ensure there is room to move and have a functional space while still maintaining that chef kitchen element.

Efficient Storage Solution

In every kitchen, it’s imperative that effective storage solutions are in place. As we grow into a home, we collect many things, such as baking accessories, different pots and pans, and many other ingredients. Especially if you are a cooking enthusiast, this becomes more important than most things. A clean-cut kitchen is what I admire about chefs so utilising all types of storage ideas will allow you to comfortably grow within this space.

Here are some storage solution ideas to maximise the space:

  1. Hanging your pots and pans not only saves countless draw spaces but also allows you to keep your expensive pans out on display, which is a bonus within itself. This also means they are easily accessible.
  2. Organisers within draws help you keep all your little accessories organised and tidy, which is especially useful for those who enjoy utilising the space frequently. These organisers can be applied to your fridge and even spice cabinet.
  3. Shelf dividers to ensure that you are making the most out of your cupboard spaces and even pull out draws so not only can you easier grab products from the back but ensure you aren’t overbuying products and creating a lot of waste.

Lighting

Optimal lighting is a must in every chef’s kitchen and it can come in multiple ways and in different places. Here is some inspiration that I have drawn from research and my excessive watching of the series Bear.

  1. Task lighting is like LED lighting strips if you want to save a bit of money, but this essentially is placed under your cabinets so light is shining on your worktop surfaces. I have this in my kitchen and it makes a real difference when it comes to meal prepping and just doing anything within the kitchen.
  2. Ambient light provides general lighting for the entire kitchen and I would recommend a lighting shade that makes dining a more comfortable and relaxing place or if you have a separate room for that you can have a bright light to ensure that everything within that space is visible.
  3. Natural lighting is amazing during the sunny days and summer periods so ensure that your kitchen has many places that allow as much natural light in as possible because why would you not want the sun shining on your brand-new, perfect kitchen?

Final Thoughts

Building and designing the ultimate cook’s dream kitchen comes with a lot of personal preferences, as what might work and be convenient for you wouldn’t be for the next person so be sure not to rush the design and enjoy the experience of considering and building the perfect kitchen to maximise and inspire your future when cooking meals.
